The Liechtenstein Institute of Professional Trustees and Fiduciaries is a public-law corporation. All trustees and trust companies operating in Liechtenstein are members of the Institute of Professional Trustees and Fiduciaries (currently over 370 members).

Supervision by the Liechtenstein Financial Market Authority (FMA) and the Liechtenstein Institute of Professional Trustees and Fiduciaries (THK)
The Liechtenstein Financial Market Authority and the disciplinary bodies of the Liechtenstein Institute of Professional Trustees and Fiduciaries exercise supervision over trustees. The Arbitration Commission may be called upon to deal with cases of transfer of a mandate between members.
