Financial Market Authority

The Liechtenstein Financial Market Authority (FMA) is the competent authority for licensing and admission of financial service providers. The FMA is responsible for the ongoing supervision of trustees and trust companies. The FMA may grant, withdraw and revoke licences, and compulsorily dissolve companies operating without a licence under the Professional Trustees Act (Treuhandgesetz – TrHG). Other tasks include admission to examinations, approval of changes to licensing requirements and disciplinary action in the event of administrative violations.

In addition, the FMA supervises compliance with due diligence obligations pursuant to the Due Diligence Act (DDA; Sorgfaltspflichtgesetz – SPG) and the related directives.
